Tara Carey Friedler, PT, DPT, CHT, CEAS
Tara is the owner and founder of Impact PT & Ergonomic Solutions. She has been working in orthopedics since 2005 when she joined the rehabilitation team at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. While at HSS, Tara became interested in treating the upper extremity and began her journey towards becoming a certified hand therapist (CHT). Tara earned the CHT credential in 2009 and has been treating the hand and upper extremity full-time since then. While at HSS, Tara led the hand therapy team to develop Smart Design: The Art of Splinting, a professional education course that taught therapists how to fabricate custom splints. This is an endeavor she remains proud of to this day!
In 2015, Tara began working at Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS) in Stamford, CT. At ONS Stamford, Tara was the sole PT, CHT and responsible for providing care to patients with elbow, wrist, and hand injuries. She worked closely with the hand and elbow surgeons to ensure excellent care and optimize outcomes for both surgical and non-surgical patients.
Over the past few years, and as more people started working remotely, Tara began to notice more and more patients complaining about injuries related to how they work from home. This deepened Tara’s interest in office ergonomics and how one’s work station can cause injury and influence overall wellness. She has since acquired two technical certifications to perform office ergonomics assessments.
Tara received her Bachelor’s, Master’s and clinical doctoral degrees from Boston University in Boston, MA. With over 20 years of clinical experience, Tara is still fascinated by studying human anatomy, kinesiology, and believes in promoting wellness as a method of preventative care. Some of Tara’s favorite things include reading, running outside, and traveling with her husband and two children.
